Ferries to Krabi, Phi Phi and Koh Lanta - ferry timetable

Ferries play an important role in Krabi’s tourism
Ferries play an important role in Krabi’s tourism

With so much of the province’s attractions off the coast, ferries play an important role in getting around. They connect Krabi Town and Ao Nang Beach with Phi Phi and Lanta Islands as well as Phuket and run fairly regularly. They can get rather full during the season so booking in advance is advisable.

Note!

Be aware that travel in Thailand always takes longer than you expect with plenty of waiting around and delays for transfers and collection. Also, the times advertised on signs outside of the many travel agents are sometimes out of date or inaccurate, so remember to make solid enquires rather than assumptions. Usually the departure time advertised is a full hour before the boat actually departs. Going to Phi Phi for the day from Ao Nang, for example, isn’t too realistic unless you get the earliest boat, and you’ll still only have about five hours there. Check out our forum for handy tips from other travellers on travelling in Thailand.

Warning!

There have been a number of accidents in recent years involving overcrowded ferries which sank, resulting in fatalaties. The boats get very full in the high season and there is very little regulation over passenger numbers. Try to avoid the busiest times, or jump off if it seems overcrowded.

The high season schedule is as follows:
