Dive boat rescues stricken tourists

The crew of an Andaman dive vessel have been praised for their timely rescue of tourists trapped on a sinking speedboat. A boat belonging to Prestige Divers was en route to Koh Phi Phi last Thursday morning when crew members spotted the stricken Manific close to Koh Yao Yai island, opposite Krabi.

New Krabi marina stages soft opening

The latest addition to Krabi’s abundant attractions and facilities staged a soft opening last week. Sailing yachts from the local Andaman Sea region of Thailand as well as Malaysia and Singapore descended on the brand new Krabi Boat Lagoon to commemorate its opening.

Andaman tsunami memorial wall gets clean up

A team of volunteers has cleaned up the Phuket memorial wall commemorating people who died in the Andaman Sea tsunami. In the southern Thai Andaman provinces of Krabi, Phuket and Phang Nga an estimated 5,500 people died and another 3,000 were washed away in the 2004 Boxing Day catastrophe.

Extinct peacock discovered in Krabi

A living peacock found in Krabi last week is one of a bird species thought to have died out in this region of Thailand. Jamrad Kuannakorn was working in a Khao Kram District rubber plantation early on Tuesday morning when he heard a loud crowing noise.
