Ritz-Carlton to open in Krabi

Krabi will be the first recipient of the Ritz Calrton Hotel group’s new boutique brand, with the Phulay Bay scheduled to open on December 22 this year. Krabi’s Phulay Bay will be the first Ritz Carlton property in the world to carry the Reserve brand.

The Ritz Carlton Hotel group has planned to follow the Krabi hotel with other properties in Thailand, to be run under three of its brands: the Ritz carlton Hotel, Ritz-Carlton Reserve and Ritz-Carlton Residences. December’s opening of the Krabi Phulay Bay will mark the global launch of the Reserve brand.

Regional vice-president for Ritz-Carlton’s Asia Pacific division, Mark DeCocinis, has indicated that the group had decided to introduce the Reserve brand in Thailand because it believes the country has a growing tourism potential.

DeCocinis says that despite the recent political troubles and the global economic scenario, the group is confident that the hotel’s location and exclusive services will attract visitors.

When opened, the Phulay Bay will boast 54 poll villas and pavilions. Prices will range from 19,550 to 68,000 THB per night.

Ritz-Carlton has planned several more boutique properties for Thailand, to be opened at different locations. The group has said it plans to follow the Krabi hotel opening with another nine Ritz-Carlton properties in various destinations by 2014.
