TAT Strategies for New Year in Tourism

Juthaporn rerngronasa, deputy governor for the Tourism Authority of Thailand has announced their new strategies to tackle different markets in the coming year.
Mr Rerngronasa, who was recently reappointed to the position, is responsible for leading a new team in the wake of a management reshuffle.  The reshuffle was undertaken by TAT’s current governor Suraphon Svetserni.

Svetserni said that this year, the authority would not aim at luring a larger number of tourists, but encourage them to spend more while staying in Thailand.

She went on by pointing out that the agency would attempt to develop new target markets through local media and online channels, adding that these new forms of advertising are cheaper than traditional advertising methods.

The TAT also mentioned it would be unveiling a new tourism campaign called Amazing Thailand, Amazing Value, which will aim to bring more shoppers to the region.  It will also feature up and coming tourist destinations in order to generate interest from repeat visitors.

Meanwhile, The Tourism and Sports Ministry announced last week that it would reach their target goal for 16 million new visitors to the country, which would be an increase of 2 million on 2009.
