Tourist nets ‘monster’ catfish

A FISHING-mad tourist proved that it is possible to catch more than just rays in Krabi by netting a gigantic Mekong catfish weighing around 100lb.

Tony Tudor, from Solihull in the UK, spent his annual holiday plundering the waters around the Andmanan coast for monstrous creatures of the deep.

The 62-year-old’s prize catch was a Mekong catfish weighing more than a human teenager from Gillhams Fishing Resort.

And the retired truck driver only properly took up the sport a few years ago, but as since gone from strength to strength.

Mr Tudor told local paper the Solihull News: “I started fishing again when I lost my wife three-and-a-half years ago - I cared for her for 13 years as she had leukaemia.

“I just love the thrill and the fight of catching a monster fish - but I always give them a kiss and put them back in without hurting them!”
