Thai AirAsia to add extra Krabi flights

20 Sep 2011

Thai AirAsia has announced it will be increasing flight frequencies on its Bangkok to Krabi route as well as other popular routes. From 1 October, there will be four round trips a day from Bangkok to Krabi.

The announcement of the increase in services from the Thai capital to Krabi as well as to the domestic destinations of Hat Yai, neighbouring Phuket and Udon Thani comes hot on the heels of a new addition to the Thai AirAsia fleet.

The low-cost carrier recently welcomed its 21st Airbus A320-200. The aeroplane is brand new and airline boss Tassapon Bijleveld said that constantly adding new craft to its fleet signified AirAsia’s commitment to expanding its Thai domestic and international operations.

The carrier held a publicised blessing ceremony to welcome the 180-seat Airbus A320-200 to its fleet. At the same time it announced that there will be another new addition in December this year and that it would be used to introduce an international Bangkok to Colombo service.

The increase in AirAsia’s flights next month has been timed to coincide with the onset of the peak tourist season in Thailand. The frequency increase will also see Bangkok to Phuket flights raised to eight a day, Bangkok to Hat Yai flights to six a day and Bangkok to Udon Thani flights to three a day.

CEO Bijleveld finished up by saying that the augmented flight services on domestic routes would give travellers greater flexibility. He also said that AirAsia would run promotions and special offers to advertise the additional flights.
